Steam gift card regions: how to choose the right one
Walletbridge sells Steam Wallet codes for more than 25 regions — from the EU and the UK to Latin America and Asia. The code looks the same everywhere, but Steam ties it to a region and a currency. Buying a card for the wrong region is the most common reason a code "doesn't work", so the two-minute check below is worth it.
Why the region matters
Every Steam account has a store region and a wallet currency, set when the account first adds funds or makes a purchase. A wallet code is issued for a specific region. If it doesn't match your account, Steam won't redeem it — usually with a message saying the code is for a different region.
How to check your account's region and currency
- Sign in to Steam in a browser or in the app.
- Click your account name in the top right corner and open Account details.
- Look at the country listed for your account and at the currency your wallet balance and store prices are shown in.
- If you've never added funds, go by the currency of the prices in the store.
Which card to choose
The region is always part of the product name — for example, Steam UK, Steam Turkey or Steam USD Global. Choose the card whose region matches your account's country and whose currency matches your wallet. If you're not sure, message our support before you buy and we'll help you pick.
At the time of writing, the shop has Steam cards for Argentina, Brazil, Chile, Colombia, Costa Rica, the EU, Hong Kong, India, Indonesia, Korea, Kuwait, Malaysia, Mexico, Peru, the Philippines, Poland, Qatar, Saudi Arabia, Singapore, South Africa, Taiwan, Thailand, Turkey, the UK, Uruguay and Vietnam, plus the Steam USD Global card in US dollars. The range changes over time — the shop always shows the current list.
What happens if the region doesn't match
Steam won't add the funds and the code stays unused. A digital code can't be returned once it has been revealed (section 11 of our Terms), so a region mismatch usually can't be refunded. If you believe the code itself is faulty, contact support with your order number and we'll check it with the supplier.
How to redeem the code
- Sign in to your Steam account.
- Click your account name in the top right corner, then Account details.
- Click Add funds to your Steam Wallet.
- Click Redeem a Steam Wallet Code.
- Enter the code from your order page and click Continue.
The code appears on the order page in your Walletbridge account as soon as the order is delivered. Most orders are delivered within a few minutes of payment.
